U/12 Boys Div 2
Kilcolman Rvs 4-1 Askeaton AFC
We lost 4-1 to Kilcolman on Saturday. Good game but Kilcolman were too stong. 2-1 at halftime after a goal from Kieran Hanley. We had a few chances but we couldn’t equalise. Kilcolman got a lucky goal after a long range shot was headed from the edge of the box by one of our defenders over our own keeper. Our keeper – Callum Dalton then made an excellent save after a penalty was awarded to Kilcolman. They went on to get another late one but in fairness our lads (and Samantha Maune who had a great game) kept plugging away but couldn’t find the net.
Team: Callum Dalton, Saul Birdthistle, Tomas Moane, Frankie Murphy, Tom Harty, Kieran Hanley, Cian Sheehan, Callum Harte, Samantha Maune, Dion Harty.

Very entertaining game on Sunday morning which we dominated. Despite having the great start Shountrade had the ball in the net after the first 5 minutes. Credit from the lads, they didn’t drop their heads and we responded when Shane gave a lovely ball out the wing to Matt, his first touch was good but the finish was better as he drilled the ball into the bottom corner. We started playing lovely football with great movement off the ball, Shane long was winning a lot of possession for us and with a great tackle put Cian through, squared it to Jeff, with his back to the goal he spun the defender and sent him the wrong way and slotted it home. We got another goal when Shane took a long range shot and Sam was there to slot it home. Shountrade pulled one back before halftime. At half time we told the lads to keep playing the football and create more chances and they did. Ray Kelly was unbelievable today, very good on the ball, moving it very well. Niall came on and caused the defence a load of problems. Next on the goal sheet was Cian when he was quick on his feet to tap home from a save off the keeper. We were rightly on top at this stage. Niall once again using his speed down the wing when he squared a ball, the defender got in the way but Jeff never gave up the chance and got his reward as he tackled the defender and the ball found the net. With Niall getting great joy on the wing he broke free from the defence and calmly slotted it home. Shountrade got a goal near the end but finished 6-3. A great result, giving us plenty of confidence for our last game. Stephen Smith was brilliant today in centre back but Shane Long was outstanding and was man of the match.
