U/12 Girls Div 2
Askeaton AFC 1-0 Shountrade
Samantha Maune
Back in action after a long break and the girls continue where they left off with another 1-0 victory. They were made work really hard for this win from a tough Shountrade team, who on that showing dont deserve to be where they are in the league. Terrific performance and workrate from the girls. Samantha Maune with the goal. Well done, keep it going.

Sunday 5th February
Weekly Observer Division 1
Shannonside FC 2-1 Askeaton AFC (HT 0-0)
Jeff Duggan
Sunday was a very scrappy game, we found it hard to get our flow of passing going on a very tight pitch. Killian made a great save after 10 minutes and soon after that a late tackle on Killian again saw Shannonside down to 10 men. Not much was created by both teams for the rest of the first half.
Start of the second half Shannonside stayed defensive but good work from Niall down the wing put the ball across the box and Jeff pounced and put the ball in the net. Shannonside had to open up a bit more and we had a brilliant chance as Pete broke free and sprinted away from the defence just missing the target. We were looking like the better team now, passing way better but Shannonside pulled one back with a ball over the top. Shannonside came back but we defended well and Sam broke free in mid field, took on two men and played through Stephen, what looked a certain goal but great tackle off Shannonside player. As we pushed forward from a corner to get a winner, left one man back, Shannonside cleared the ball, their striker tackled us and a clever finish to give the 3 points to them. On another day we would have won but never the less a good battle and performance from our lads. We will go again next week away to Glantine in the cup.
