U/14 Boys Desmond Cup
Askeaton 5-2 Ballingarry B
Askeaton led through Shane Ryan penalty after 6 minutes. On 15 minutes Ballingarry missed the chance to equalise when they put their own penalty wide. Ballingarry did equalise when they scored after the ball broke from their corner. Ballingarry had numerous corners in the first half but Askeaton held out for 1-1 at halftime.
Brooklyn Delahunty made it 2-1 5 minutes into the 2nd half but the visitors pulled it back to 2-2 10 minutes later. Askeaton were physically stronger than their opposition and that told in the last 20 minutes of the game. Jamie Sheahan headed in. Ryan corner to take the lead again. Further goals from Callum Small and Shane Ryan wrapped up the win.

Great game against a tough side, we were down to 10 men 15 mins into the second half. The score was 1 nil and the boys dug deep and controlled the game well. Went on to score 2 more goals to come away with all 3 points.

At this sad time, our thoughts and prayers are with Oliver’s son Ken who coaches our U/8 team and grandson Sean U/8 player and his extended family.

ASKEATON AFC 50/50 SPLIT THE POT!!
Our Split the Pot draw was held last Tuesday, January 25 in the clubhouse. The winner of €201 was Tom Corrigan.
Split the Pot is our weekly fundraiser for Askeaton Football Club. You can enter by writing your name and contact number on the envelope and place your €2 into the envelope. The envelope should be placed into one of the buckets located in SuperValu, Centra, Askeaton Post Office, Top of the Town Bar, Cagney’s Bar, Shanahan’s Shop, Boss Barbers, Brian Collins Bookmakers, Moran’s Hardware, Askeaton Soccer Pitch. You can also enter online at www.askeatonafc.ie The draw is held every Tuesday evening. Half of the money entered into the draw is given in prize money and the other half goes towards funding activities for our club. We thank you all for your continued support of this fundraising initiative, it is very much appreciated.
