Askeaton AFC 4-1 St. Itas (HT 2-1)
Pete Harty ⚽
Matt Moane ⚽⚽⚽
Today St Itas started out as the stronger side. We created a great scoring chance when Sean Whelan had a great strike saved but was fouled and got injured in the process leading him to be substituted. We did a lot of defending in the early stages of the game and conceded mid way through the first half with a lucky deflection. 5 minuted before half time Pete Harty swung in a great ball from the left and was headed home by Matt Moane. Just before half time we went into the lead with a goal from Pete. At half time we discussed we needed to be stronger in the 2nd half. We started the 2nd half strong and on top. Mid way through we won a free kick from 40 yards out and up stepped young Matt Moane with a powerful strike into the back of the net. We were well on top at this stage of the game. We witnessed one of the goals of the season when Matt Moane banged in another screamer in the top corner from 35 yards out. Our defence deserves credit for battling through a physical game. Our midfield ran there socks off. Credit to the lads that came off the bench and helped us get over the line in a game that was very important to win. It was a great all around performance from the lads today after going down in the early stages and bringing it back. It was a massive 3 points, special mention again to Matt with one of the best hattricks you would see. On to the next one 🔴⚫
