Tuesday 16th May
U/14 Boys (& girls) Div 2
Athea 1-1 Askeaton AFC
Another great display on Tuesday night, a late penalty smashed home by Sam gave us a well deserved draw. This team don’t give up and have a tremendous bond between them. We probably should have been three up after 20 minutes but wasn’t to be. The last 15 minutes of the opening half we defended with every bit of energy left in the tank on a warm evening, all our squad being used. Second half, Athea finally got past us 10 minutes in but we rallied again and got back on track. With five minutes left, we were awarded a penalty due to a hand ball, Sam stepped up and smashed it home. Well done to all. A special mention to our three girls on the team, super performance but man of the match was Nathan Dalton.
Saturday 20th May
U/12 Girls Div 2
Askeaton AFC 0-0 Rathkeale
A 0-0 draw against a really good Rathkeale side for the girls on Saturday in Askeaton. That result saw Breska crowned league winners as they won their game also.
The girls showed great fight and battled right to the end to try and find a goal that would have brought them to a playoff vs Breska but it wasnt to be.
Big thanks and congrats to the girls on all the effort and work that they put in throughout the season, we are very proud of them. We are now into a shield final, date to be confirmed.
Panel on the day.
