Askeaton AFC 1-2 Shountrade

We started the game brilliantly, we nearly went one up in the first two minutes after great work from Stephen Smith on the wing drilling a low ball across the box and Alex Ryan was unlucky not to score. We scored soon after when Pete Harty went down the wing and put a lovely low ball across the box and Niall Barry side footed passed the keeper. We went close before half time, Shane Long one on one with the keeper but was denied by a good save. We conceded a soft goal and Shountrade were back in the game. Second half we dominated the game. Sam Duggan rounded 3 players and narrowly missed the target. Matt and Yanek had a few shots blocked. In 85 minutes Shountrade put 3 up top, a long ball in our box and a great header put them in the lead. We kept going until the final whistle but couldn’t find the net. It was a hard one to take as I felt we dominated for most of the match and the boys were brilliant. This game was a massive learning curve for the young team and will give them great experience. We will go again
