Wednesday 29th March
U/14 Boys Div 2
Rathkeale 2-2 Askeaton AFC
Sam Costello
Willie Faulkner
Rathkeale was the place to be on Wednesday night, those that were there saw a cracker of a game! Going behind twice we really played for each other, playing our best football yet with spirit and some tremendous tackles which were second too none. Samual and Willie on the score sheet on the night. Young Paudie ran his socks off onto a ball which just went wide. A great performance by all 18 who were togged out.
Team: Luca Zoncada, Marie McKnight, Kerry Moane, Danny Murphy, Nathan Dalton, Cathal Daly, Rory Moran, Callum Small, Caoimhe Gammell, Sam Costello, Paddy Harty, Aine Moran, Paudie Ryan, Tom Harty, Willie Faulkner, Jamie Murphy, Conor McKnight, Jack Murphy.
Thursday 30th March
U/16 Boys Div 2
Askeaton AFC 1-2 Kilcolman Rvrs
Deren Aksoy
We scored early through Deren Aksoy and we should have scored more before halftime but poor finishing and good defending kept us out. We were made to pay when the visitors scored twice in the final 10 minutes before the short whistle. We dominated the majority of the 2nd half but couldn’t get an equaliser. Hugely disappointing that we lost but you don’t win games unless you score.
Team: Luca Zoncada, Matthew Kehoe, Danny Murphy, Jamie Ruane, Ben Fitzgerald, Danny O’ Flaherty, Deren Aksoy, Jamie Sheehan, Willie Russell, Shane Ryan, Alex Kelly, Shane Collins, Aidan Kelly, Samuel Costello.
Friday 31st March
U/8s
Askeaton AFC v Shannonside (non-competitive) Great game this on Friday evening from our young lads. They battled hard, tired bodies playing the full pitch. They’re really coming along with their passing and all topped off with some great strikes and a few goals. Well done boys.
Saturday 1st April
Girls U/12 Div 2
Shannonside 0-3 Askeaton AFC
What a performance from the girls on Saturday, coming away with a 3-0 win against neighbours Shannonside. It was 0-0 at half time playing against the wind, 2nd half the girls got the breakthrough with a long range effort from Danielle. Second goal came a few minutes later from Evelyn and Samantha sealed the deal late on with a fine strike. Girls in defence were rock solid as usual. Well done girls, 1 game left. Keep it going.
